Reading Enrichment Program
The reading program helps students build vocabulary and fluency in reading skills. This program provides the framework
for motivating students to read and improve their reading skills.
This program consists of students reading various materials that are interesting to them to help them learn to enjoy reading first.
Once the student learns to enjoy reading it makes reading other literature better.
The mentor program offers students exposure to new things and life skills. The mentor program helps build character,
confidence, competence, compassion and connections. This program helps students learn to make better choices in life.
The program partners with various businesses and community leaders to expose students to various career opportunities.
Students take trips that are educational and enlightening to expose them to other cultural programs and the importance
of helping. This program brings various facilitators to speak with the children about specific topics. The participants
in the mentor program also make themselves available as a point of contact for children for future questions and guidance.
Computer Literacy Program
The computer literacy program gives students knowledge about the basics of computers and progress into using other programs
such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Computers can open doors in a way that textbooks cannot by creating an interactive learning experience that brings the material
to life. And since computers have endless patience, they promote a can-do state of mind. Students will be able to progress at
their own pace and participate in additional computer training when the basic courses are mastered. Additional computer courses
being offered are using social media responsibly, study techniques, and ACT Prep courses.
